Admission and Enrollment


Admission Process: Prior to enrollment, parents are required to attend a scheduled tour of the school.  For enrollment in the 2009-2010 school year, tours will be conducted on specific Thursdays of each month during 2008-2009 at 8:30am: October 2 and 16, November 13 and 20, December 4 and 18, January 8 and 22. Interested parents MUST SIGN UP with VP of Registration for a tour at 713-259-9279 or e-mail Allison Teheng.

Registration ends January 31st, 2009, and notice will be given by February 15, 2009.


Enrollment: Students are enrolled for one semester at a time; the nursery school calendar follows that of H.I.S.D. Those applying for a 3-year-old program must be toilet trained and 3 on or before September 1 and those applying for a 4-year-old program must be 4 on or before September 1. If it is necessary to remove a child from the program before the end of the semester, the family is obligated to make all tuition payments for the current semester until the vacancy is filled. There will be no deductions from the monthly payments for absences, illnesses, or other reasons.


Tuition: Monthly tuition is payable on the first day of each month. Tuition checks may be mailed to the Treasurer's home or deposited in the labeled box in the school. The fine for late tuition (that tuition received after 11:30am on the fifth [5th] of the month) will be $25.00. If tuition becomes more than one month overdue, the child will not be allowed to attend school until payment is received. Any variance from this schedule must be arranged with the Treasurer.

Supply Fee

  $100.00 per year*               

*The supply fee is billed twice a year totaling $100.00 per child. $50.00 is due at the beginning of the fall semester and $50.00 is due at the beginning of the spring semester.


Scholarships: Partial and full scholarships when available are based on financial need. Applications for financial aid must be filed with the President by February 1 of the year preceding the school year. The application will be reviewed by the financial committee which is made up of selected board members. Families will be notified in a timely manner of the status of their application.


Safety and Education: The safety and education of all Poe-Co students are prime concerns. If a child's misbehavior continually disrupts the class or endangers the other children, the teachers and the President will request a conference with child's parents. If the situation does not improve, the Board of Directors reserves the right to ask the family to withdraw from the program.  


Confidentiality: If a problem should arise which a parent would like to keep confidential, the parent may discuss it privately with the Teacher, Class Chair or the President. It will then be brought to the attention of only those directly concerned with the problem's resolution.
